What The Groom Should Do In Planning A Wedding

In many writings dedicated to wedding planning, I have seen people talk about flowers, caterers, brides, bridesmaids, mother of the brides, etc but few of them actually focused on the groom. What is his job and what should the groom do in planning a wedding?

Well, the tasks of the grooms are quite simple, because the main burden falls on the brides’ shoulders. But being a couple means sharing the responsibilities that you have now, and prepares you for the ones that will follow. First of all, as a bride you share with your future husband some of the wedding tasks in order to unload some of the things you have to do and second of all because your groom always needs specific indication. Men lack the patience usually needed in these cases, so they often tend to give up on what they have to do, if they feel they won’t be able to do it right.

Answering the question “what should the groom do in planning a wedding?”, I am going to divide the preparation process in three parts: the early stages of the wedding planning process, six months before the wedding and few days before the wedding day.

In the early stages of your wedding planning process, you should invite your groom to pick some venues for the wedding ceremony and reception and add them to the list of places you will want to see. Also the groom is the one who has to take care of the wedding budget so advice him to ask his parents if they want to contribute and if yes, how much they are willing to pay. It is important to establish your budget from the early stages of your planning so that you can know what money to use.

In the second stage of the wedding planning process (six to two months before the wedding) the groom has to take care of some details like the tuxedoes, picking up the liquors, making a list with his groomsmen’s duties or taking care of transportation. Men enjoy choosing and talking about cars, so this will be a recreational activity for him. Also encourage him to look up for honeymoon destinations. If you trust him that much, leave this decision in his hands and remind him to be romantic. This could be a good chance for him to prove how much he loves you and that the romantic story between you two has just started.

And last, few days before the wedding day make sure he gets a haircut, gets his teeth checked, maybe a facial, a manicure, a pedicure, shows up on time and doesn’t forget about the rings. Mainly these are the groom’s duties in planning a wedding. It may seem too much for some or too little for others, but remember that men are not that into organizing events. Usually, they like to keep it simple and not get lost into all these details. Not to mention the fact that planning and organizing this event has been the bride’s dream since she was a little girl, so she shouldn’t be left without this wish.
