When choosing our careers, many of us think more about the money they will make and less about if they’ll enjoy it or not. I must admit that I might just be one of these persons because I still haven’t decided what to do with my life and what career to follow. I don’t want to be a hypocrite, so I will admit I am more interested in a job that pays well and less in something that brings me joy, because I couldn’t have a job that would bring me moral satisfaction but no money. There will always be this dilemma: love or money, but I believe that people should have them both in a balanced proportion.




Documenting a lot about the wedding planning industry, I was curious to find out the wedding planners’ wages. Is this a profitable job or is just for people who enjoy organizing events and bringing joy to others? I will let you draw your own conclusions after reading a little about this topic.

Before talking about the wages received by wedding planners, I think we should first see what are the qualities and duties necessary for a wedding coordinator. First of all, a wedding planner is a person who should have excellent communication skills. In this job you get to interact with all sorts of different people who will need personalized treatment. It wouldn’t be appropriate for you as a wedding professional to yell at your bride just because you are stressed. Speaking of this, another quality owned by a wedding planner should be patience and calm. Usually brides are very tough to handle but stressed brides are almost impossible to bear not to mention get along with. So there can’t be two stressed persons in the same room; one of them has to be calm, confident and optimistic. And that is definitely not the bride.

Other qualities are creativity, imagination, dedication and passion. How else will you be able to accomplish your duties without them? Speaking of duties, you should know that a wedding planner has many important attributions that are vital for the wedding. He or she is in charge of booking venues, hiring capable vendors, organizing the wedding schedule, maintaining a calm and positive atmosphere for the bride, entertaining guests and so on.

The salary of a wedding planner depends highly on the degree of experience and skills. This is why quality is very important for a wedding planner. Who will give a favorable recommendation to a company that hasn’t satisfied her or his needs?  As I was saying, a young marriage co-coordinator would have a salary of approximately $25,000 or $30,000 yearly, while a person occupying a managerial position would get around $70,000/year. A self employed professional can earn even $100,000 but he or she would have to have a solid portfolio of clients.

As you can see, wedding planners’ wages are based on different criteria but what matters the most is whether they are able to provide excellent services and maintain a solid relationship with their clients, or not.
