Top Ten Things To Know When Planning A Wedding

Planning a wedding is no piece of cake, especially if you don’t have any experience in the domain and you can’t afford to spend any money on a wedding planner. Nowadays, there are hundred of possibilities through which you can learn more about wedding planning but it is hard to read so many books and magazines, to draw conclusions and start planning. My point is that it would be much better to have something where all the information is merged into a single book, magazine etc.

This is exactly what this article is trying to give you: a top ten with the things you need to know when planning a wedding.

Usually, a top ten with the things you need to know when planning a wedding, focuses on the elements which have the greatest importance when organizing such an event.

Number one in my top is planning your budget. Without an accurate history of your budget possibilities and necessities you can’t do anything relevant. If you don’t know what is the extent of your expenses you can’t plan too much. So try to establish from the beginning of the planning process a sum of money dedicated only for this particular purpose.

The next important thing is to remember that it is your wedding. You might hear all kind of opinions from parents (generally mothers), relatives, friends, and it is nice to consider them as ideas, but don’t feel forced to please everyone. Is your wedding and if you want to dress as a rodeo clown at the wedding ceremony, feel free to do it!

As it should be the case in every decision you make, don’t jump to the first supplier you meet. Do some research and try to meet with the persons you want to hire especially photographers, florists, caterers etc. and see what they are capable of.

When talking about venues, the same thing is applicable too. Visit as many locations as you can and then compare and contrast. You might be surprised to see how many offers you get when the competition is fierce.

Also, choose your attendants very carefully because for each person you add as a bridesmaid or as an usher you pay for their outfits, accessories and so on. And speaking of attendants, involve everyone in the planning of your wedding. If you have friends or family who are experienced in catering, photography or entertaining, don’t be ashamed to contact them. Everyone knows how expensive these wedding aspects can be, so they will probably be more than delighted to help you.

The last four position are occupied by the wedding dress, the guest list, you attitude and how you enjoy yourself. When searching for a wedding dress, avoid pre-set ideas about the pattern of the dress. You never know what dress you might miss because you are too caught in your ideas. When it comes to the guest list, forget about “Ms. Nice” and invite only the persons who really matter to you. If some don’t understand that there is no place or money for ever body, that is just their loss.  The remaining two points in our top ten are connected and they both refer to the same thing. Enjoy yourself and don’t forget that the wedding day is important, but is also important how you experience it and how you remember it in time.
