Testimonials From People Who Started Their Own Wedding Planning Business
Choosing a job can be very difficult, especially when you are young and you have no experience what so ever. You are bound to make mistakes because that is life and that is how you accumulate experience, so don’t panic if what you wished for doesn’t come true.
For the persons who want to start a career in the wedding planning industry, I have some suggestions. In fact I am going to present to you some
testimonials from people who started their own wedding planning business so as you can judge by yourself if you want to pursue a career in this domain or not.

Eric Friedemann says that “in 1978, I was 16 years old and had just received my drivers license. A friend and neighbor- she must have been 21- got married and insisted I take the photos, though she knew I hadn’t shot a wedding before. It was a good chance for me to cut my teeth at a small family event and she was pleased with the results. I tried to get work as an assistant, but couldn’t find any positions in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. So, I started small, read all the books and magazine articles I could find, practiced and have shot weddings and events from time-to-time ever since. For anyone starting out, if you are able to get work as an assistant and hone your skills, do it. Weddings are very special events to the families involved and you should be as competent as possible before you start shooting them.” Melissa Downham agrees :” I did a couple of weddings for free and then for about $100 to gather photos for a portfolio and then designed a website and advertised with wedding planning websites and viola! My first year I had 8 weddings. I still have a part-time job on the side but I’m pleased with how well things are going. it just takes awhile to build up a large clientele.”

But things are not always as bright as that. Some people have difficulties when starting a business in the wedding planning domain. For example: “I recently started my own wedding and event planning business. I live in a small town and there was nothing like this at all when I started researching this 4-5 years ago. I wanted to be prepared…I took courses , I visited venues, I did everything to be completely prepared to open my business. Business is slow but that is to be expected, I am new and willing to give it some time.
However, here is the catch. Since I officially opened my business, 2 women have each started their own wedding planning businesses. I have been working on this for a while, but I guess with all the TV shows on now it has become a Fad.”
As you can see, these testimonials from people who started their own wedding planning business represent reality and how things sometimes work and sometimes don’t. So don’t be afraid to fail in a business, especially if you are young. It is not something that you would want, but you have to be prepared for it. Don’t forget that as long as you are young and healthy, you can always start a business from scratch.
