Planning Wedding With One Income

Even if we are in full recession, couples still decide to get married. Whether the chosen date represents something important for them or they have made all the arrangements for it and they don’t want to back down , people refuse to change their plans only because there is “a little crisis”. So they improvise! I have heard about many cases where the couple had to start planning a wedding with one income because they didn’t had enough money or time to do something else.

Planning a wedding with one income is definitely harder than planning a wedding with a big budget but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible. You just have to pay attention to certain aspects and you will have a good wedding. Not prefect, because we all know that perfect, for many of us, means luxurious, but you will manage to provide the essential things needed for an average wedding.

In these cases it is indicated that you begin setting your budget. When you have a low budget, it is required that you organize before starting any planning actions. It is important to know because otherwise, you will end up in debt and you wouldn’t want that, especially if you don’t have the possibility to give back the money in time. So try to keep it simple and organize a small wedding. Both ceremony and reception are pretty expensive if you have a long guest list, because every person that you add requires food and drink, thus more money.

Also, forget about organizing an open bar. If you really want to serve alcohol at your wedding (although it is not necessary), opt for serving a single kind of cocktail, wine, beer etc. But keep in mind that the largest amount of money is spent on drinks (alcohol) and you will also have to keep an eye on the guests who are becoming too friendly because of the booze.

Here is another advice if you want to take advantage of the planning of your wedding with only one income. Get rid of the unnecessary things. It is lovely to go to your wedding into a limousine, have a Vera Wang wedding dress or Christian Leboutin shoes, but these details aren’t the ones that make your wedding day perfect. If you find something that you feel you can live without or it’s just for your own pleasure, dismiss it. It will help you budget and will help you economize your savings for things that truly matter. For example, you can use the extra money for organizing a beautiful and relaxing honeymoon. After all the trouble you went through planning a wedding with a tight budget, you can spoil yourself with an exotic honeymoon in one of the most luxurious resorts in the world (Miami, Hawaii, Jamaica etc.). It will definitely recharge your batteries and you will come back ready to start work and make more money.

As you can see, planning a wedding with one income is hard, but not impossible. So try to remain positive about this and remember what is more important in life: love or money?
