Planning International Wedding

Each couple that intends to get married plans a perfect wedding and they expect everything to be alright. Planning a wedding is complicated and if you dream of planning an international wedding you will be forced to deal with many surprises caused by the distance problem.

When planning an international wedding, there are some particular steps you need to keep in mind. The first thing you need to do when planning your wedding in another country, is to familiarize yourself with the marriage laws of that country. On the internet you can easily find details about what documents are required and you will also have to prove that you are either single or divorced. Some countries might require a waiting period before they release your marriage license while others need proof that you have been involved in a serious relationship with the person you wish to marry. As you can see, some of these laws are a little strange, so inform yourself in details before beginning anything.

Moreover, planning your wedding in another country implies different social backgrounds. Make sure that you know everything about this country like traditions, rituals, laws etc. Remember that you will be a guest and you wouldn’t want to offend anyone by breaking their rules and thus hurting their feelings (pride). The same goes for the traditions which you want to bring to the wedding. Inform yourself whether these are regarded as strange or inappropriate in the country you intend to get married.

Although I have mentioned it before, I will say it once again: don’t forget your documents and identification cards. These are very important when leaving to another country and it gets harder if you are not able to communicate with other persons because of language or mentality differences.

Your next step is to decide over the guests list. Taking into account that it is an abroad wedding, you won’t probably afford to have your entire family there with you. So the best next thing is to plan a wedding at home with friends and families and another one abroad, with only a couple of friends. It is entirely your decision, but the best thing would be to keep it simple because planning is already a stressful activity. You wouldn’t want to add the burden of planning an abroad wedding to your problems.

Another thing to keep in mind when organizing your wedding overseas is the season. If you choose an exotic destination, make sure that you won’t have to endure the rainy season that can mess up your whole wedding. In addition to this, document yourself a little bit before the wedding so that you won’t have to face other natural disasters. It is better to prevent than treat!

Planning an international wedding is more complicated, but at the same time is more wonderful and full of surprises. Different places, other cultures and mentalities, these are all things which you will meet when going into another country. So remember to take a lot of pictures so that your memories last forever.
