What can be more beautiful and exiting than having a wedding in a national park? I know it can be many answers to this question but for me that will be my dream wedding. Think of a national park you visited and you have some memories about that place maybe that was the place you met your spouse or maybe it’s a special place for you and you want to cherish that by taking your life time vows there.




There are many beautiful national parks to choose from and maybe one has a special place in your heart. United States has 58 protected areas known as national parks which are operated by the National Park Service. National parks usually have a variety of natural resources over large areas. The first National Park was Yellowstone the most visited is Great Smokey Mountains followed by Great Canyon.

Now even if you want your wedding ceremony to be on a desolate mountain, or on top of a volcano, be a little flexible and think of the people you will invite in an inaccessible place will be hard for them to reach. So think of a more accessible place that will not put the lives of your guests in danger. So first visit the National Park Service website and see if it’s possible to plan your wedding ceremony there see what frees they have what permit you need, reservations requirements, marriage license requirements.

Contact the members stuff; make all the catering arrangements, make sure to ask how many guests you can have. That will take some time so make sure to do all this some months before. It is also good to visit the place before, see where they ceremony will take place, maybe you will want to make the settings in a tent or something so plan ahead every detail you want. Some parks will allow you to reserve this space exclusively while others will not restrict the area for your wedding I think there will be more fees to pay for that.

Make a list of your wedding details include the date the time the number of guests. Obtain the permit to host your wedding there. Resolve all the paperwork need. If you choose Great Smokey Mountains National Park the charge will be 50 $ for the permit free for hosting the wedding there. For wedding packages the free will be 200 $ application fee.

Arranging a wedding in a national park is more difficult than arranging one at the church as you a have to operate under a different set of assumptions, like taking into considerations different factors, than the average wedding planner but in the end it’s all worthy you will have beautiful memories plus the wedding pictures will look wonderful.

You will need more time than planning an average wedding so make sure to start with a year in advance. The most critical issues are accommodations and catering space. Don’t expect perfection even if you thought of every little detail an outdoor wedding can have some surprises but I guess this is the beauty of it the unexpected. Don’t forget to take care of all the transportation of your guest you don’t want them to get lost. The background will be perfect for pictures and most of it have fun planning your wedding in a national park think of it as a trip as an adventure because it will be the adventure of your life of starting a new like. The trip of your life with the one you love that will last forever.
