Planning A Mexican American Wedding On A Tight Budget

Mixed couples have always had the problem of combining their culture or traditions. Especially when it comes to important events like weddings, parties etc. Planning a wedding in a couple of different nationalities is probably the highest challenge a wedding planner can accept. This means dealing with awkward traditions or trying to please the couple and their families, thing which is not easy at all.

Let’s take the example of a Mexican-American couple who is planning to get married but has to deal with the problem of money. Further on, you will be given the possibility of finding additional information on planning a Mexican-American wedding on a tight budget.

During this process, the first thing you need to remember is to blend as much as you can. Because you are a couple and both your cultures matter, you should both agree on a system that can satisfy everyone. When planning the food, keep in mind that although for Mexicans bens and rice is a traditional food, Americans might not appreciate it at its true value. What is worst is that some of them might consider it a lack of respect. However, you can combine this type of dish with salads, “ceviche”, empanadas, hot-dogs or whatever crosses your mind. If you have the chance, a “money-saver” idea would be to grow your own vegetables for the salad and decorations. This doesn’t mean that you have to cultivate 10 acres of land and bring the herd of oxen to plough it. All you need is a piece of your backyard and a certain amount of time to invest in it. But the results will be surprising.

After taking care of the food, (don’t forget about drinks; shots of tequila, plenty of margarita or mojitos will be the key to a hot atmosphere), take care of the mood. When planning a Mexican- American wedding on a tight budget everyone will expect a band of mariachi to be there. If the budget wouldn’t be very restrictive you would have the chance to book an American entertainer, but since all your economies will go on other things, I suggest you hire a band of mariachi that can “transfer” its cultural knowledge into the 21st century. They will know exactly when to sing their passionate songs or romantic ballads.

Also, in the whole “blend the two traditions” ritual, remember to add the wedding ceremony. This is practically the most important event of your wedding because it relates to your spiritual side, so make sure that you respect both your traditions (which are so important to you), but also the traditions of your spouse (which are very important to him/her too). The process of tying a white rosary around the couple’s necks shouldn’t miss from the ceremony.

All these being said, this is your “big fat Mexican- American wedding” so plan it as you wish. Don’t let anyone interfere with your dreams because you will never get the chance to relieve these beautiful moments. Good luck and a wonderful wedding day!
