Planning A Destination Wedding

Every couple’s wedding day should be special, no matter where they choose to hold it. Whether you decide to have it on an intimate beach in Miami or on the highest mountain of Alaska, this should be prepared with care and attention to details.

Planning a destination wedding is a romantic way of promising your commitment to the person you love in a special setting and location. And even if you might have doubts and consider it too expensive for your budget or to fancy, here are some tips on how to plan such a wedding without too much trouble. Among the first things you need to do, are choosing a location and making a guest list. The location of your marriage can vary according to your tastes but you should hire a wedding coordinator who can take care of all the details. Another possibility would be for you to travel there every time there is a problem or something needs to be fixed, or move there for the period of time in which you plan your wedding. I bet the first option sounds better. And you wouldn’t have to worry about spending your days looking for the right vendors or picking flowers for your arrangements.

Usually, a destination wedding is a sort of intimate celebration of your true love. So unless you are wealthy enough to buy all your relatives plane tickets and pay hotel bills, I recommend you limit your guest list to only a couple of friends and close family (maximum 20). This way, you won’t have to face people you haven’t seen for ages or spend your whole night entertaining and making small chat with persons who are less important for you. It would be like a family gathering, where you are buying dinner for only 20 people instead of 200.

And don’t forget that your guest list and your budget are tightly connected, so don’t invite too many people if you know you can’t assure them the minimum comfort.

Planning a destination wedding can turn out to be harder when focusing on details like paperwork. If you are getting married in a foreign country you will probably need a passport and a wedding license. The passport is easier to procure because you have to apply in advance for it, but the marriage license can be trickier to obtain. Call the local city hall from the country you are about to get married and ask for permission to unify your destinies. Remember that in some countries you are required to have blood tests, immunization certificates or many other proves.

These are the main things you need to know when planning a destination wedding. In the end, more important is to feel good with your decisions and to have a wonderful time with your new family and friends. If you manage to forget about expenses and enjoy your vacation, it means that your wedding was a success and that no matter what, you and your spouse will have a happy and peaceful marriage.
