Planning A 50th Wedding Anniversary Informal Party

Getting married is just the first step in a couple’s life. Since their wedding day, they begin together a new journey, full of priceless emotions and surprises. So when a couple is planning a 50th wedding anniversary party (formal or informal), means that things have went more then perfect and their love is still powerful, despite all problems.

Planning a 50th wedding anniversary informal party is easier than planning a fancy one, because the protagonists of the celebration don’t have to put so much work in it. Here is a plan of what I consider a simple wedding anniversary party.

First of all, start with the date. It is not necessary that the party takes place on the date of the anniversary, but more important is to correspond with the guests’ schedule. Taking into account that it is an informal party, the guest list shouldn’t be so long, so you can ask your guests if they are available on the chosen date.

No matter how informal this party is, you still have to send invitations. If you want to economize, you can make the invitations yourself and a good idea for this would be to put the picture of a cake with the sign “50” on top or to use golden as the main color. Every body knows that golden is the color of 50th wedding anniversaries.

Also, choosing a venue is among the top things you have to take care of when planning such a party. A nice idea would be to have the party at home, or if you have the opportunity, in a garden if it is a warm weather or in a park. Celebrating your love under an old tree symbolizes permanence, trust and commitment.

Since it is a 50th anniversary party, plan to have proper decorations. You can choose to frame (using golden frames of course) family pictures and then scatter them around the house. If you have the chance to plan an outside party, make sure that there are a lot of flowers (yellow and red roses, freesia, begonias etc.). Floral arrangements bright up the place and will create a romantic atmosphere.

Let’s talk now about my favorite part: gifts. If you are invited to a 50th wedding anniversary here are some gift ideas. If the ones celebrating are your parents, then my suggestion is that you create an album (preferable with golden edges and a beautiful rose in the middle, or whatever ideas you might have, just use something golden) with pictures depicting their happiest moments (wedding day, new house, first baby, family trips etc.). Another interesting idea I think it would be to make a CD with their favorite songs (including the song they used at their first dance as a married couple) and offer it wrapped in a beautiful white paper and tied with a small (surprise!) golden ribbon. This combination of colors denotes elegance and style.

You can see that planning a 50th wedding anniversary informal party doesn’t have to be so demanding. After all it is a celebration among friends and family so it should be relaxing and comforting.
