The mother of the bride, or as some might say MOB, has many responsibilities, and if in the past mothers got to plan their daughters’ weddings and thus see their own dreams come true, nowadays brides have a personal vision which they would like to express. So mothers need to obey!

Your first job is to be a constant support for your daughters. Always compliment her, make her feel beautiful, listen to her problems with calm, and it is a sure fact that she will thank you later. If you haven’t met the groom’s parents yet, it is wise to set up a meeting with them and try to bond so that you avoid the unpleasant situation of passing by them and not knowing who they are.

Secondly, you have to choose a dress for the wedding. As the mother of the bride, you need to look stunning and elegant. After picking your dress, let the mother of the groom know what exactly you have chose and if possible, send her a piece of fabric or a picture of the dress so that she could wear something  that compliments you.

Then, discus the budget of the wedding with the happy couple. Establish what exactly you are wiling to pay for, what is their share and which is the number of guests. For the out of town guests, make reservations at decent hotels and make sure that they have the best conditions or guide them so as they don’t get lost. At the wedding ceremony and at the reception, try to act as a hostess, welcoming the guests and making them feel comfortable. Remember that you have to take care of the guests, support your daughter and look charming.

As mothers of the brides your part in the wedding planning process is very important, but you have to remember that your daughters are adults now and they can choose for themselves. Don’t add more stress by doing it your way; let your daughter have the wedding of her dreams.
