Is being a wedding planner a fabulous job?

I have decided to change my job, turn my life around and try something completely new, interesting and demanding, therefore I came to the conclusion that a fabulous job as a wedding planner is the perfect choice. It will not be easy because I am a demanding job and I do not know much about it, but I am willing to learn and succeed. I have recently found a book on the internet and after reading it, I think I am ready to shear some secrets with you, and afterwards all that we have left is practice until perfect!

First of all I would like to consider the advantages and disadvantages of this job, because it is better to know all the facts before getting into business. There are good parts and bad parts as with all jobs, and it is up to each of us if the good parts are more important or the bad ones therefore decide if the job is suitable or not for us. The job of wedding planner or wedding consultant is not an easy one but it is extraordinary. What could be better than spending money to organize the most special day in a couple’s life?



All the flowers, decorations food and let us not forget the most important ingredient: happiness. Weddings are reasons for joy, fulfillment and fun and what reward would be better than the appreciation and happiness of your clients in their „Big day”. This job involves meeting new people on a daily bases, thus there is no way to get bored.  Also the revenue is consistent and after all the work is done the pay check will be substantial.

There are some disadvantages as well to this job, because not anyone can do this kind of job. It is a fabulous one, of course, but not at all easy, but rather demanding, and if you are not well organized, used to running errands, and able to face stress, then I am truly sorry to say that this is not the right job for you. The work hours are chaotic, there are lots to do, a lot of legwork (at least you keep in shape, no?) because you have to run from one place to another and make sure that everything is done properly and things go as they should, you will not except anything but perfection, no?



There is no time to rest until everything is set, and not even on the „Big Day” you cannot catch your breath because unexpected things that might disturb the happiness of your clients are unacceptable. You have to take care of the paper work, and believe me this is no easy job and, of course, there is no room for error. Also the bride will have a lot of ideas and you must make sure that these are good, you must be there and offer advise every step of the way, as well as deal with „cold feet” (nevertheless normal, but not at all pleasant). You will be blamed for all the problems that arise, so you must be prepared to solve them fast and not take anything personally, just do your job the best that you can.

All in all, this is not an easy job, but not being easy is what makes it so fabulous and what separated the good wedding planners from the weak. If you thing you are up for the job, then go for it!
