Highschool Wedding Planning Project

All of us remember how in high school we used to have  teachers who would come up with all sorts of ideas for different projects. I highly recommend these projects  because they represent a very useful way of developing ones coordinating and language skills. Throughout this article I am going to make a short presentation of  how a high school wedding planning project should be done .This will be accompanied by a personal experience :my own high school  wedding planning project.




When I was in my last year of high school, my art teacher suggested that we should all prepare projects for our final grade .The theme of the project  and  the manner in which this had to be done were left for us to decide. So I started thinking what theme would be more appropriate to prepare and present, and after many failed ideas I decided to focus on wedding planning. It sounded fun, interesting and the most important educating, taking into account that we had many girls in our class and we all had to go through this “process” at least once in our lives.

So I began my research. It looked promising, especially because the internet was full of all this kind of materials about weddings and how to plan them. But soon after that, I got stuck because I realized I had no idea how to organize all this information and how to make my project entertaining. After many days of hard work I finally managed to come up with a plan and do all the necessary arrangements. Mainly, my idea was to ask some of my colleagues to come dressed as the protagonists of a wedding: an elegant outfit for the “groom”, a white one for the “bride” and so on. I explained briefly what their roles were in order to stage a wedding and they seemed  very eager to play these characters.

Afterword, I arranged the setting with some balloons I had already bought, confetti and some music. It could have been better, but since I was the one who had to pay for all that I considered it enough. Furthermore, I had prepared some handouts for my colleagues which contained the information that I was going to present(things about music, flowers, food, beauty, dresses etc).The wedding ceremony began and with the help of my colleagues I managed to present all of its stages(the vows, the rings, the songs etc.).

Then, the happy newlyweds enjoyed the wedding reception. For this, after a short presentation of how to choose some details like food, flowers ,music and so on, I presented a slide show with all the elements gathered up to that point, in order to review and learn the information much better. At the end of the course I had served the class with some of my special homemade cookies and that was the end of it. Beside the good grade that I received, I was pleased with the work that I had done and I was happy that my colleagues considered my project fun and entertaining.

So you see, when talking about preparing a high school wedding planning project and mainly any project that we have to do, we have to focus on the fact that people who listen to us are our target and we should try to gain their attention by any means that we can think of, but also try not to bore them. A good project should offer plenty of information and lots of fun.
