Guide To Wedding Planner

I am sure that many of you, who are interested in the wedding planning industry, have asked yourself the question: “what do I have to do to become a wedding planner?” Further on in my article, I am going to try and give you some tips that will hopefully act as a guide if you want to be a wedding planner.

This little guide on how to become a wedding planner starts with a short presentation on what does a wedding planner do. His or hers main attributions can be explained through the expression “CCC”, meaning counseling, coordination and consolidation. A wedding planner counsels his/her client so that he/she can know exactly what to do. There are all kinds of packages that imply at least a session of guidance in which the wedding planner finds exactly what has to prepare, what budget to respect and so on. The second “C” is coordination and refers to the wedding planner’s offer to coordinate the entire process. The couple’s only worry is to show up and enjoy their perfect wedding. And last but not least, we have the consolidation step. This means that after weeks or months of planning, the wedding specialist takes care of the remaining details. He consolidates his actions and make sure that everything is flawless. However, this has to be done at least 1 month before the wedding so that if the bride has any complaints, he/she can fix them.

If you live under the impression that wedding planning is easy, I recommend you think again. Wedding planning doesn’t mean only a mechanically arrangement and coordination. If you want to do this job, you need to be prepared to connect with your clients. There are many examples of wedding planners who have managed to keep a close relationship with the couples that hired them. So always try to be friendly and optimistic because, although you might not see it, those with whom you get in contact are influenced by your personality and vivacity. I remember reading about an interview with Donnie Brown, the famous wedding planner, and you could see from his eyes, moves, speech etc. that he has an explosive personality and that the secret of his success is his passion for planning (“I was made for this! I have this internal switch that comes on all by itself when I get in front of a large group of people — and I just turn into this crazy personality!”).

This type of guide to become a wedding planner offers relevant information about this job but it is also very important that you personalize everything you do. No one will look for a boring wedding planner who does everything by the book. Creativity is important here and therefore a wedding planner needs to use his/her artistic sense to develop something beautiful. If you pay attention, you can find art in every area of wedding planning (photography, floral arrangement and even catering). So let you imagination flow and you will definitely manage to create something unique!
