Weddings are events charged with strong feelings and emotions. We can all agree to that!

Although touching and impressive, I consider weddings a little boring, especially the wedding ceremony. If you ask me at the end of the ceremony what the priest said, I won’t be able to reproduce not a single word. I try to pay attention but I get bored and I lose the thread of discussion. And I could bet that I am not the only one. The same thing happens at the reception too if you don’t know anybody and the music is from a past decade.

In order to avoid these problems, I think the best thing to do, would be to hire a funny wedding planner. I know it is already hard to look for a wedding planner alone not to mention a funny one. But try, when choosing a wedding specialist to focus on his personality too. If it is a sociable, confident person you will sure experience a lovely planning time.

If you want to add a little flavor to your wedding ceremony for example, you can decide to use besides the usual vows, extra promises like: “promise to make your favorite chocolate chip pancakes on Saturdays,” “I promise to not ever forget that every year we have an anniversary to celebrate,” “I promise to cheer for your favorite team,” or “I promise to wash the dishes”. These will personalize your ceremony and it will loosen the tense atmosphere.

The same thing works if you want to have a funny theme for the wedding reception. For example, you can choose to have a funny cake that describes the favorite hobby of the bride or of the groom. If the groom enjoys fishing, they can order a cake that has the bride fishing the husband or vice versa. Or I remember I have seen somewhere a cake with two figurines on top that depicted the scared groom who tried to run and the bride who was holding him by the back of his coat.

Or you can select a cake in accordance to your wedding theme, which leads us to the next important element when organizing a funny wedding. If you want a fun and relaxing theme for your wedding you can decide between movie characters, Halloween, Superheroes, cowboys, Goths, fairy tales, famous love stories (Romeo and Juliet). Watching how your guests will try to impersonate as well as they can other characters, will be fun and will get you rid of a boring wedding reception.

Hiring a funny wedding planner is not a must when preparing your wedding. You can use your own ideas, in the end it is your wedding, but remember that we all need help from time to time and sometimes two minds think better than one. Although a wedding is an important and serious event, feel free to add a little humor. Personally, I can’t imagine life without a good joke or a large smile. Life is too short to waste it, so be optimistic! As Murphy said: “Smile today, tomorrow can be worse!”.
