The first thing you need to do when planning a frugal wedding is to set your budget and assess your finances. It is very important to do this as a team, so that both of you know how much you are allowed to spend. Try to be realistic and fix a reasonable budget. It will be easier for both of you not to get tempted if you decide over a budget that can satisfy your needs.

The next step is to start planning. If you think you can handle this, skip the wedding planner part. Wedding planners are expensive, especially when you can’t afford them and take into account that you have planned this wedding since you were 6, so you probably know what you want by now. Of course, this decision is entirely up to you.
If you decide planning your own wedding, remember that you have friends and family who are there to support you. Use them and start dividing tasks, so that you can finish the job quicker and have more time to prepare for the big event.
So that you don’t think this schedule is too strict, you can focus on something you have always wanted. A gorgeous wedding dress, a famous DJ, a big cake etc., these are elements which can become real, but as long as you don’t forget about the budget. Other ideas that you can use when planning a frugal wedding, refer to location, invitations and photos. In order to economize, you can have the wedding at home. This will make your job easier, because you won’t have to spend money on transportation, decorations or renting.

And think how easy it will be for those who already know where you live. You may not even send them invitations. Just kidding! Speaking of invitations, you can try to make them yourself. I am telling you, your guests won’t even notice the difference. And last but not least, the photos. You can ask one of your friends or family member to be the photographer of the day. Knowing that she or he made those pictures, although a little blurry, can make them even more special.
Remember that getting married is important and not the luxury of the event!
