First of all, a wedding coordinator is the most important person involved in the planning process. His or hers job is to find a band, a photographer, a caterer, a florist etc. but only at the best prices. In order to do that, you need to establish some connections before getting a good reputation. Also, as a wedding planner, you need to be able to manage time and to maintain a calm atmosphere. Without these “tools”, the organization of a wedding is doomed to fail.

Second, the problem of money (expenses and how much you will earn as a wedding planner) is not that simple, but fixable. Your money will first fly on college fees. Although a degree in wedding planning is not vital, this gives you credibility and seriousness. People will see you differently if you have this kind of diploma, even if this is not relevant in some cases. There are so many people who buy a diploma that doesn’t reflect their abilities in a certain domain so a piece of paper can sometimes be misleading. Next, you will have to spend your money on advertising, renting a space where you can work with clients, buying a new wardrobe for work etc.
Don’t worry, once these expenses are well managed and your business grows, you will be able to win all the invested money back. Usually, wedding planners charge between 5 and 10 percent of a wedding’s cost, but their price can vary. You can plan a wedding for $50,000 or a smaller one for $10,000. The important thing is to create packages that are affordable for a large variety of couples and not only for rich ones.

Coming back to the question: “do you need a degree to be a wedding planner?”, it can be said that a person who is eager to become a wedding or event coordinator, can attend a college or even some courses that will teach him or her about this industry. However, some opt for courses of business management, or any kind of major related to the financial domain
As a conclusion, I think it is right to say that it doesn’t really matter the diploma you have hung on the wall, but your knowledge and passion towards the industry you have chosen to work in. If you don’t have talent or any ability to run a business, there are small chances that things will turn out how you want them to.
