Different Facebook Christmas

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things to do around the Christmas holiday is to decorate the Christmas tree. In fact, I used to get pretty upset during my years as a student when I travelled home for Christmas and my dad had already decorated the tree.

I know it might not give you the same feeling, but GreenPixel has though of a way for you to have your own virtual Christmas tree that you can decorate as you please. And this is why Giftreez was born. It’s a new Facebook application that allows you to take Christmas with you wherever you are and all year long. The main idea is the following: you have to install this application on your Facebook profile. The next step is to convince all your friends if possible to join. Once they have done so, their Christmas trees will also appear in your “browse treez” tab. Clicking each tree separately will take you to your friends wonderland Christmas tree for you to vote it and decorate it. Every time you like and vote for a friend’s tree, you get one point and they get 2 (the system works vice-versa as well – when they vote for you, you get 2 points and they get one). The other option lets you send a gift to your friend.



That gift is in fact, a tree decoration. Whether it’s a gingerbread house or a choco candy bar, just click, drag and drop the gift you think suit best your friend’s tree. Just put in anywhere on the tree and your friend can later swap its position as he or she pleases. You can do the same from your Giftreez home page. The customize tab lets you move around the decorations you receive and make your very own beautiful Christmas tree shine.



From the moment you first launch the application, you are given 6 choices for a Christmas tree. You can choose the shape you like best but be aware that the standard size is small. If you want to upgrade your tree to a medium size you must have a total of 750 points and if you want a huge Christmas tree, you need 1500 points. Except for voting a tree and receiving votes as well, gifting also generates points. You receive 10 points for every decoration that you give to a friends and 5 points for every decoration that you receive. If you are a competitive person, you can try and reach the number one place in your network.



But the truth is, this application was designed to provide a special way for you to send a different message to your friends for the holidays. Each time you gift someone, you have to type in a message that they read when they see the new decoration. It is a simple, yet very different way to remind your friends how much they mean to you.
