Getting married is probably the most important event in a woman’s life. But what do we do when we realize that there are so many things to do and so little time to do them? We seek for help; but not any kind of help. We seek professional people who know what they are doing and know how to do it well. One of these people is Diann Valentine, a successful business woman and an excellent wedding planner.




In this article we are going to talk a little about her life, her work and how she became a resonant name in the business industry.

She was born in Oakland, California ,her father working as a contractor and her mother in retail,both teaching her to follow her dreams and never give up.

Part of her success it’s due to her father, who always told her that she is “smart, beautiful and can do whatever [she wants] to do”(this becoming her motto in life).She attended the Oakland’s Skyline High School as an excellent student being involved in many school activities.She was voted student body president, elected to be her school’s representative for the Oakland School District etc. But the most important thing that happened in this period was the fact that she was asked by her cousin (for the first time in her life) to plan her big day. Although scared by this, she got to work and surprise :she loved it! Discovering something that she liked and was good at, she decided not to let go, so she founded her own wedding planning company called “Memories” even before she had her high school diploma.

This was the first step of her career as a business woman, interior designer and wedding planner.

After high school, her professional life continued to prosper. She was hired by the Bay Area’s elite to plan their weddings and events but after several years of working here and managing her firm, she decided that it was time to leave the Bay Area and moved to Los Angeles.

Here she began working for Warner Home Video and after only a year and a half she was promoted to the Director of Worldwide DVD Production for Warner Home Video. But this was still not enough for Diann, so after the success with the Rochon- Fuqua wedding she decided to start her own business: D. R. Valentine & Associates, Inc .Her name spread quickly, and she even began planning the weddings of many celebrities like Usher, Toni Braxton, Kelis, Nas, Boyz II Men crooner Shawn Stockman, Chante Moore, Gary Sheffield, LaShawn Daniels etc. After these successful events she decided to write a book named “Weddings Valentine Style”, which consolidated her place in the industry . As if this wasn’t enough she even hosted “Wedding Day,” a show which helped young couples have a magical and wonderful wedding day.

As a conclusion, I think that it is right to say that Diann Valentine has discovered the key of success and she is not afraid to use it. Her successful career and her balanced life have proven to everybody that every dream you have can become real if you work hard enough for it and never give up.
