Classes To Take To Become A Wedding Planner

I have met many wonderful people who had trouble deciding what career they want to choose for themselves. I, myself must admit that I am quite disoriented in what regards this theme. I believe I told you in a previous article about my sister’s marriage and how I offered to help her plan her wedding. Well, I must admit that becoming a wedding planner has entered my mind, but I was rather confused with the courses I had to take. So I started making a little research and I found some useful information about what classes to take in order to become a wedding planner.

The first thing I bumped into was the fact that before becoming a wedding planner, a person should know what this job means. Being a wedding planner is not as easy as some of you might think. It requires a lot of hard work, dedication, coordination skills and patience. A wedding planner becomes a couple’s best friend and counselor during the whole wedding planning process and his or her job is to give advice and guide the couple through this process, so that they take the best decisions.

Further on, I am going to present some of the most popular schools that could answer you question: what classes to take to become a wedding planner?

The “Penn Foster” program is an online program that includes the total amount of information needed in order to become a certificated wedding planner. During these classes, you will learn many interesting details about photography, floral arrangements, attire and invitations, decorating and organizing wedding ceremonies and receptions, starting your own wedding planning business, etc. At the end of the program you will receive a certification and a membership in the Association of Bridal Consultants.

The next school is called “QC School of Event Planning” and doesn’t resume only to wedding planning but also to corporate and social events. During the courses taken here you will be taught how to handle and prepare events, budgets, coordinate birthdays or corporate events. After completing this course you will be given a certification and membership in the “International Event and Wedding Professional Association”.

The last school on my list is “The Sheffield School” which offers its students the possibility of studying wedding and event planning courses. They will be given 20 online lessons and they will need to complete two internships that will prepare them for the activity from the real world. After this, they will receive “the Sheffield School certificate of completion” and will be able to start their own wedding planning business.

In order to become a wedding planner, it is not enough to take these wedding and event planning courses. One should try to document him or herself if they want to become prosperous. You should attend as many weddings as you can, help the brides organize their weddings, establish contacts with vendors and other wedding planners etc. These will help you improve yourself and get more experienced, because experience is vital for clients, giving them the feeling of trust and reliability.
